Controls Of The Car Ford Focus

A is the gas pedal or accelerator. The harder you press it the faster the car will go.If you take your foot off the gas pedal the car will slightly slow down. When you apply the gas pedal you should put gentle pressure on it buildingit up to save the car from jerking.Your right foot operates the gas pedal..

B Is the brake pedal.Depending how hard you press it will determine how quickly the car will slow down.If you press the brake pedal fully down the car will stop.Again you should put gentle pressure on it increasing it to avoid jolts when you brake.Your right foot also operates the brake pedal.

C Is the clutch pedal. The clutch when pressed down opens a space between the drive and clutch plate, allowing the gears to be changed. When you have changed the gears you should bring the clutch off slowly in one movement to avoid jolts. The other use of the clutch is to drive so the 2 plates spin together very slowly allowing you to drive at about 3mph,this is called clutch control.Your left foot only operates the clutch pedal.

The steering wheel turns the front wheel of the car.The more you turn it the more the car will turn. The car will go in the direction you turn the wheel whilst driving forwards. You should hold the wheel with two hands at about 10 to 2 position.,and never cross your hands while steering. The horn and airbag are on the center of the steering wheel. The direction indicators are behind the wheel on the left, and the windscreen wipers are to the right
The forward lever is gor changing the gears. The gears control the speed of the car.If you were in first gear and floored the gas pedal you would do about 30MPH and blow up the engine. If you floored the gas pedal in gear five you would get over 100MPH.Gear 1 is the slowest gear but the most powerfull.Gear five is the fastest but the least powerfull. As an example of the power you would not get up a very steep hill in gear five but you would in first gear.

Behind the gear lever is the hand brake.THIS DOES NOT STOP THE CAR AS ALL OF YOU SEEM TO THINK AND APPLY IT WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING.The hand brake will stop the car from moving after you have taken your foot of the foot brake

Behind the steering wheel is the instrument panel. The dial to the left is the Rev counter and tells you the revs of the engine. The needle of the rev counter should not go into the red section. If the revs are high you should change to a higher gear.

The next dial is the speedometer. This tell you how fast the car is going in Miles Per Hour MPH.

The small dial to the right is the fuel gauge, and tells you how much petrol is in the car.A yellow warning light will come on telling you that the car is low on fuel.
