OPEN ROUNDABOUT
This is an Open Roundabout. You can see clearly into
the exit on your right well before
you get to the give way lines.Notice the lane markings. |
As you approach this roundabout you should have decided which direction you want to go off the roundabout and which lane you need.See the arrows painted on the roundabout. You also need to decide if it is an open or closed roundabout. We will imagine you are going ahead at the roundabout. You are in the left lane and should be checking your mirrors as you are going to have to slow down on approach to the roundabout. As this is an open roundabout and there is no traffic stopped at the give way lines, you will need to be in second gear with the clutch raised by the traffic bollard on your right. This will give you time to start reading the roundabout before you get to it.At present there is traffic on the roundabout. If you glance to the right for the moment it is clear. It may not be however when you get there. The traffic on the roundabout will have cleared by the time you get to the roundabout. If it is still clear to your right when you get to the roundabout you will be able to proceed. If any traffic is coming from your right, crossing your path, you will need to go into first gear and give way.
