EXAMPLE USE OF SPEED

The speed limit for this road is 40 MPH.Look to the left and you will see a sign Road narrows from both sides and reduce speed now.The question is what speed and what gear.It is quite sunny so there will be glare, you cant see over the brow of the hill and the road narrows up.Maybe there will be an oncomming car,and you will need time to deal with it.I would get second gear and drive at about 20 Mph just after the sign
I am now driving in second gear at about 20 MPH.there is an oncoming car.See the sun reflecting off the car. This could impair my vision and there is also some kerb sticking out from my left side.I will now slow down a bit. This will give me more control and allow the car to pass before I get to where the kerb sticks out, making it easy to avoid it.
I am now going uphill and still in second gear.I am going to turn right at a T Junction immediately around the bend. There is an arrow showing left and most people think you can’t turn right, very confusing.I will slow to 5 miles per hour and get first gear at the end of the bush on my left. This will enable me to steer and not end up on the wrong side of the road, and allow me time to deal with the T Junction.
The junction is still uphill. The road markings are very faint. Most drivers come up here too fast and in too high a gear. The speed puts the car wide and over the center of the road, where cars can turn in possibly resulting in a head on collision. If you are in too high agear and too slow the car will stall as there will not be enough power to get up the hill.THIS ROAD IS ONE OF THE GRAVE YARDS OF WALLINGTON TEST ROUTES.
