BREAKING DOWN
|
|
It is highly recommended that you belong to one of the major breakdown associations before attempting to drive on motorways. You should have full recovery membership. This will guarantee that your car will be towed free of charge and you and passengers to where you live, regardless of distance. This kind of cover will not take effect until after 48 hours of paying for it.If you breakdown with only basic membership cover you will be towed from the motorway to the nearest garage and be left to fend for yourself. You will then have to return at a later date to collect your car bit of a problem if you live 300 miles away.If you have no cover at all you will be removed from the motorway and will get a big bill from the company who towed you off.Again this will be normally to the nearest garage and make your own way home.Where there are road works you will often see free recovery. This is there to unblock congestion.Again you will only be taken to the nearest garage and then you fend for yourself, with no fee to pay. | The
vehicle broken down if possible should have moved over to the left
more.No sterps to warn other drivers have been taken ie hazard lights if
working,or warning triangles 150 metres apart back and front of the car
if carried. |
| It
is recommended that you and your passengers should leave the car if it
has broken down for safety reasons. The weather conditions and time of
day will also determine if you get out or stay in the car.The lady has
used the emergency phone and is now waiting for assistance

The
broken down car is being loaded onto a recovery vehicle. When loaded the
car and passenger will be taken to a pre arranged destination. |

Should
your car manage to be restarted, you should build up your speed driving
along the hard shoulder and then join the carriageway when safe to do
so.Signal your intentions to alert other traffic
far behind you that you are joining the main carriageway
