ADVERSE WEATHER
When
you see fog switch on your headlights to dipped beamYou must not use
rear fog lights unless visibility is reduced to 100 yards or less. You
can be prosecuted otherwise as it causes glare to drivers behind you |
I personally do not like driving on motorways in thick fog.I worry about the idiots that are behind driving too fast and in no time at all crash into the back of you as they can’t stop in time.Itend to get off the motorway and go via a different route,or stay in a service station till the fog clears. A lot of drivers seem to ignore the warning lights that are showing.Unfortunately these signs seem to be left on after the hazards etc are cleared so drivers take no notice of them. Be especially careful in high winds particularly cross winds. If you pass a lorry it is shielding you from the wind till you pass it be prepared for some buffeting on your car when you pass it.If you change lanes do so at a gentle angle so as to cut into the wind reducing the risk of being blown across the carriageway. Snow and ice cause lots of crashes as drivers do not realise that stopping distances can increase 8 times or more.If there is snow without warning the road will not have been gritted.
|
Fog
detectors will activate the matrix signs. You must comply with these
speed limits. No doubt there will be at least on fool behind you that
will think the signs are on for no reason at all. This fool could be
behind you. |
When
driving in heavy rain a curtain of spray thrown up by other vehicles
will reduce your view of the road. You should drive on dipped beam
headlights and be aware of your speed. |
The road
situation could change at any time.A high sided vehicle could be
affected in a strong cross wind.Look ahead at trees bending for an
indication of high winds. |
