LEAVING THE MOTORWAY
If you
are leaving the motorway at jct10,you should be in the left hand lane at
this point. If there is a slow vehicle overtake it but make sure you are
in the left lane by the half mile board |
Leaving a motorway
can be just dangerous as joining one.Make sure you know in advance of
what exit you want to leave at.Make sure you are in the left hand lane
by the half mile exit board at the latest.Do not cut across other
traffic at the last moment as this can be fatal. You should signal left
at the first countdown markers and
be prepared to slow down.As you go down the slip road there will be a
roundabout or a junction at the end of the slip road.Make sure your
approach speed is slow enough to be able to deal with it.Once off the
motorway remember your speed will feel slow as you have been driving
fast, providing you have been lucky enough not to have been on the M25
on a Friday at 4pm onwards.
Below These
are countdown markers to the exit. They are positioned 300,200,100yds
before the exit. You should signal left at the first marker board, and be
prepared to reduce speed.

Make
sure you are in the left lane before the left arrow.Reduce your speed on
the slip road(decelaration lane)and make sure you have slowed for the
bend coming up.Make sure you signal left at the correct time, and make
sure it is cancelled at the correct time so as not to confuse others. |
